You'll be glad know that UIC collaborated with the Garden District Corporation, the Botanical Heights Neighborhood Association and the Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association to host a design competition for the Thurman Avenue Underpass. The winning design accounted for pedestrian friendliness near-term, and the ability to fully open the road long-term.
